이번 글에서는 WIZnet 에서 보유중인 'Serial to Ethernet' (S2E) gateway 제품군의 확장된 기능을 살펴 보겠습니다 . 대상 제품은 현재 'WIZ550S2E'  이며 추후 다른 제품으로 확장 할 계획 입니다 . S2E gateway 는 아래와 같이 Serial 데이터를 TCP/IP 데이터로 또는 TCP/IP 데이터를 Serial 데이터로 변환 합니다 . 이번에 추가된 기능중 하나는 Modbus RTU/ASCII to Modbus TCP 입니다 . 기본 기능인 가공하지 않은 데이터를 단순 전송에서 한 단계 더 나아가 상위 어플리케이션 프로토콜을 적용 했습니다 . 적용한 프로토콜은 앞에서 언급한 Modbus 입니다 .
